Kajeet SMARTSpot Hotspot
STLCC Libraries and Information Technology have partnered together to provide 70 Kajeet Hotspots for students to use for short periods of time during the semester.s
The Kajeet SmartSpot® is a portable Wi-Fi hotspot that extends the school day by providing the fastest, filtered broadband access anywhere.

Accessing your Kajeet Smartspot Wi-fi Name and Password:
- Power on the device by holding the power button until you see ‘WELCOME’ on the screen.
- When on the home screen, press the menu button to bring up the device menu.
- Press the menu button once more to get to “2.4 GHz WIFI INFO”. Press power button to select.
- Note the Wi-Fi network name next to the Wi-Fi symbol (ex. Kajeet SmartSpot ####).
- Note the Wi-Fi password next to the lock symbol (ex. smartspot1234)
Connecting to your Kajeet Smartspot:
- Make sure the Kajeet SmartSpot is powered on. If the device has gone to sleep, press the power button once to wake it up.
- It is key to ensure the Kajeet has a charged battery when trying to use the device. Once the battery gets to about 20% connection strength will suffer
- On your computer, tablet, mobile phone, or other Wi-Fi enabled device, select the Kajeet SmartSpot Wi-Fi network name (ex. Kajeet SmartSpot ####) from the list of available Wi-Fi networks on your device.
- When prompted for password, enter the Wi-Fi password from step 5 under “Accessing Your Kajeet SmartSpot Wi-Fi Name and Password” (ex. smartspot1234).
- You should now be connected to the internet
Helpful Reminders:
- In the front flap of the zipper case is the device info card and a sticker, the sticker identifies the carrier, Red is Verizon orange is at&t
- Knowing the zip code is kind of important so we can look up the service in that area
- These are not the very stong, so if the device is in the basement or in the middle of a large metal/glass building its not going to work as well
- The devices are not active between 1am and 6am CST
- The devices are on an “unlimited” plan that provides each device 30 GBs of data per month., if they go over 30 GB, KaJeet will throttle them down to 500 MB per day for the remainder of the month.
- The data plan renews around the 15th of every month
- On the Kajeets, if the device is at 20% or less on the battery, it will not provide networking.
- Kajeet filters the internet usage to only allow for educational use. This includes filtering out social media, streaming, adult entertainment sites, gaming sites, etc,
- youtube is allowed
- Some Microsoft sites are not because of Xbox/ gaming
- The hotspot can support up to 5 devices at one time
- HOWEVER, having multiple devices connected to the hotspot will slow the connection across the board.
